Why I love the cupcakes and the vibe at Baked & Wired

Whenever I'm in Washington, DC, I try to visit Baked & Wired. It's a coffeeshop and bakery nestled in what feels like an oasis from the busyness of the rest of Georgetown. Yes, there's Georgetown Cupcake and Sprinkles Cupcakes nearby, but especially now that I can visit those in New York, where I live, that's not as big of a draw. Baked & Wired is a place to hang out, and I know if I lived in DC I'd spend many hours there. They have pies, cookies, muffins, s'mores and, of course, cupcakes. They are big, and I would say best shared. One easily rivals the size of a Sprinkles cupcake, possibly even a Crumbs cupcake, and they are dense and rich.

Yesterday I bought 3 cupcakes ($3.50 each), the Elvis unporked, chocolate doom and raspberry cloud, and all were delicious. I also got their OMG s'more, which I also highly recommend. The cupcakes are fresh, moist, and delicious. The raspberry cloud had a lemon cake and the combination was wonderful. I was only sad that I didn't have room to try more cupcakes. Here are some photos to give you a feel for both Baked & Wired and what you pass by on the way to get there. Yesterday the sun was shining and it was lovely to listen to the rush of water and feel like I was in the city, but also a little bit out of it. Baked & Wired also sponsors a latte art competition (see below) and always features different artists on their walls. It's fun and quirky and offers lots of options for their desserts. I highly recommend them. Visit bakedandwired.com for more information and you can also find them at @bakedandwiredDC on Twitter and on Facebook.
