National Post on CupcakeCamp Toronto

CupcakeCamp Toronto is happening this Saturday, January 25th. Stacie and I were toying with going but sadly it's not going to happen for us (maybe next year?) but we can't wait to hear all about it. Maybe someone will even liveblog?

Anyway, Canada's National Post did a Q&A with organizer Monica Fitzpatrick:

Q What is the reason of being for Cupcake Camp, besides getting together and eating delicious treats?

A It is a social event, that is the main thing. If people want to come in and if they have a business and want to advertise their business, it is a good way to do that. But the key thing is a networking, social event. It’s a fun thing to do. We all share, whether you are the baker or the eater, you share a love of cupcakes. So you just bring that...

Q This may be too primal a question, but is there a winner? Can I beat somebody else’s cupcakes?

A Well, we will be judging. Our categories are still to be determined. I’m think it will be something along the lines of most creative, best tasting or that type of thing. But yes, we will have something.

Q Can you tell me what makes a truly great cupcake?

A For me, I have to say you have put a little bit of patience and a little bit of love into it. Because if you are not in the mood, if you are not in the mood for baking it is not going to work.... For Michelle, she sees each cupcake as a work of art, she knows it can’t be baked or created by itself. You have to mix the ingredients to distribute the batter and the bake time. And keep in mind you are putting together a bigger picture.

I'm so glad to have found your blog! I love cupcakes (well most baked goods actually). Alas, I wish I could attend Cupcake Camp but will also have to dream of next year!
