You're kidding me, right?? It's a treat, for cripe's sake! All of this hysteria over obesity is getting annoying. Yes, it is a problem, but a lot of it could be due to a parental problem...not because some kids eat some cupcakes for a fellow classmate's birthday!!! Sheesh!!! I understand that birthdays do tend to fall closely together, but what about teachers making different suggestions to the parents if birthdays are close to each other. Say, one week, parent A brings in cupcakes, then the next week, parent B brings in some sort of book for the class to share and reads to the class?? Wow...

Sorry I went off there...I just think this is nuts!

My daughters pre-school specified to bring no cupcakes to school for birthdays because they were to messy. I agree that they are but I still kind of miffed about it. Her kindergarten is doing the same thing. They will only allow treats like cookies or candy bags. Like that's better or something.

Ok that was a little off the obesity thing but I thought I'd share anyway.

At my daughters' elementary school we can take cupcakes but only if they have been purchased from a bakery/grocery store. They are concerned about the 'peanut allergy' thing, and believe it is safer to buy cakes that may or may not have come into contact with nuts in a bakery/store's kitchen, than a Mom making them from scratch at home where I can guarantee there are no stray nuts floating around!! whatever!!
