Almost every Sunday, I meet my little writing group at Outpost Lounge in Brooklyn. I had just been telling everyone how cupcakes are simply everywhere now, when lo and behold, I walk up to the counter and see this:

Butternut squash cupcakes! Made by a woman who lives nearby. They were yummy - moist and sweet cake with (I think) cream cheese frosting. Plus it was a totally new flavor to me. I think another sign of the ubiquitousness of cupcakes is that they are not only in bakeries, but at places like Starbucks and little, local cafes as well.
