Cupcakes on Food Network's The Ultimate Recipe Showdown

There will be cupcakes on the new Food Network show The Ultimate Recipe Showdown.

About the Show

In this new primetime series hosted by Marc Summers and Guy Fieri, the Food Network is looking for the Ultimate Recipe in six different categories: Chicken, Burgers, Comfort Foods, Cakes, Pasta and Cookies. After a nationwide recipe contest with thousands of entrants, the Food Network Kitchens selected nine finalists per category/episode. The finalists prepare their dish on set under the lights and pressure of a live audience. A panel of food experts sampled all of the dishes to determine whose is the best. The winner will walk away with $25,000.

Kelly Madey has the right ingredients when it comes to baking.

The Upper Bucks woman's unique cupcake recipe landed her a spot as a finalist on “The Ultimate Recipe Showdown.” The competitive cooking show will debut on the Food Network Feb. 17.

“It was so much fun,” said Madey, 41, of Milford. “I was ecstatic to be selected.”

Madey's recipe for orange chiffon cupcakes with meringue butter-cream beat out thousands of others submitted to the Food Network by folks from across the nation.

She was one of nine finalists who squared off in the show's cakes competition. Fifty-four finalists competed in six categories: burgers, chicken, comfort foods, pasta, cookies and cakes.

The six-episode show challenged participants to make their recipes in front of a live studio audience. A panel of food experts judged them on originality, presentation and, of course, taste.
