Washington, DC now has even more bakeries for cupcakes: Baked & Wired and, open as of today, Georgetown Cupcake

Georgetown Cupcake will celebrate its grand opening tomorrow with Red Velvet cupcakes. Opening at 10 a.m., they’ll have 20 dozen cupcakes available in the morning and will be baking fresh batches all day until 10 p.m. The treats will be $2.75 each, $15 for 6, and $29 for a dozen.

If anyone has Georgetown Cupcake photos, send 'em in!

I just drove down today from Bethesda after a doctor's visit with my sick wife who wanted something sweet at Georgetown Cupcake. When I arrived at noon, the door was closed, with a note that said knock if you called ahead. A woman came up and knocked and the owner opened the door. I inquired as to the shortly and she said we are closed now -- even though the posted time on the wall said they should be open. I said this is the second time I have come here and you were out of product or now this time closed. She said and I quote, "We don't care". I asked her again if she means she doesn't care that customers are inconvenienced and to please repeat what she said and she repeated herself verbatim. That will be my last visit.

Your cupcakes are the best! Are you able to deliver them overnight to California? My family would love them as I think they would make a nice suprise gift. Great Great product. People sure do line up for them!

I seriously doubt that the sisters responded with I don't care, and if they did, then it was a lapse in judgement, but frankly from what I can tell from your story (while you recieved a bad response) you were trying to get cupcakes when they were closed, if they catered to everyone (and yes I know your wife was sick, but I am sure they get fake excuses like that all the time), they would never be able to run an organized business... Anyways, what I am trying to say is cupcakes are good, especially a Georgetown Cupcake, but don't act like it's the end all and be all of the your day. Go to Georgetown Cupcake and if you have been and recieved poor service, chalk it up to it being new and the business not running as smoothly as some like Baked and Wired (which has been open for over 5 years) that have been open longer. They put out a better product. Go to Georgetown Cupcake, don't believe all the negative hype. And for the record I don't work for them, I just am tired of seeing people bash cupcake stores online, especially the ones that have good cupcakes...

Bad service is bad service. Really, don't waste your time until they get it right. I love a cupcake but if I am shelling out hard-earned bucks for something as simple as this, make it special and worth coming back for. Georgetown Cupcake got great media coverage but the product doesn't live up to the hype. Georgetown Cupcake, are you listening to what your customers are saying? Fire your snotty and disrespectful employees and hire people that love your business as I hope you do. And up the quality of your product. Pretty is nice but if it taste like (as many have been referring your cake to) "Betty Crocker", then I'll suggest buying a box of cupcake mix at the store. Otherwise, there are lots of other choices for us cupcake lovers and you'll be a footnote soon.
