The quest to make the world's largest cupcake has succeeded! Click here to watch the video from KARE 11 TV, where the text below is from as well.

A possible record-setting cupcake is on display at the Mall of America.

Duff Goldman of the Food Network's "Ace of Cakes" created the sweet confection. It's 150 times the size of a regular cupcake. The colossal pastry stands a food tall, measures 18 inches in diameter and weighs more than 60 pounds.

The creation was part of the "World's Largest Bake Sale," the kick-off event for a national campaign that mobilizes Americans to end childhood hunger by holding bake sales in their communities.

And according to MyFox Twin Cities:

“Just the frosting alone took 16 pounds of butter, 10 pounds of sugar, and 3 oz. of food coloring,” Goldman said.

The cupcake weighs in at a whopping 61.4 pounds, and is 18 inches wide and 12 inches high.

The Guinness Book of World Records confirmed that this was the biggest cupcake ever made.

The rest of the baked goods on sale at the Mall of America were made by local students attending the international culinary school in the Twin Cities.

I read that they were sending the cupcake to be eaten at a pig farm! They should have carved out the middle and let the highest bidder jump out of it (or into it). Let's have a re-do with a bigger cupcake! :)
