If you like the daily cupcake content we provide, bringing you news, photos, contests, and cupcake community, please take a moment, if you haven't already, to vote for our food blog panel proposal. No, it won't be ALL about cupcakes (sorry!) but there will be free cupcakes and anyone who runs a food blog or wants to run one will surely learn a lot. The deadline is this Friday, August 29th. If you run a food blog too, we'd love your support in linking to this post or directly to the panel picker; as far as I can tell via searching the SXSW Panel Picker, no other panels on foodblogging (though there is Free food rules! The Lunch 2.0 story but that's not quite the same) have been proposed, and this is a chance to discuss everything from picking a name/topic to finding and growing your audience, handling reviews, garnering press and advertising, and building an online and offline food community, all of which we have done here at Cupcakes Take the Cake, and, along with other other esteemed panelists, will give as much information as we can.
It's easy - we promise! Just create an account, then log in, give our panel 5 stars, and you're done! Thank you in advance. (We already have one Austin bakery that's offered to sponsor this; once we hear back in October that the panel is on, we'll be contacting other Austin bakeries so we can have an array of cupcakes for you to snack on while we pontificate.)
If you like this blog and like the sound of free cupcakes, please do us a huge favor and go vote (give 5 stars) for "Nom Nom Nom: The Secrets of Successful Foodblogging" as a 2009 South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive panel. The Panel Picker is now live, through August 29th, and the panels are chosen by who gets the most votes. If ours gets picked, we'll be giving away free cupcakes at the panel!
But it's also a chance to discuss issues of relevance to food bloggers (and potential food bloggers): How do you turn your love of food into a blog and business? How do you score international press and go on shows like The Martha Stewart Show? How do you handle freebies? How do you build a loyal following? These and other fascinating questions will be answered...but first we have to get in!
