New cupcake bakery in Hoboken, NJ: "Sweet"

Right across the Hudson River from Cupcakes Takes the Cakes Headquarters, it seems a new cupcake bakery has opened called Sweet. Here's what I found out about them courtesy of NJ.com:
With a new pale blue trim and cool white interior, Sweet, Hoboken's newest pastry shop, opened Tuesday in what used to be Rue du Jardin at Church Square Park and Garden Street.

The new corner shop business was rumored to be a candy store, but Sweet serves up a different kind of high-sucrose treat: cupcakes -- with tempting flavors like red velvet, chocolate ganache, and coconut -- plus lime bars and cheese cake bars. Sweet also serves coffee, cafe au lait, espresso, etc. There are a few tables inside for eating in.

In addition, since they opened this past Tuesday, business has been "booming," and they "can't keep the cupcakes on the shelves," according to the owner.

There's also a brief write-up about the bakery on Hoboken411, a great blog for anyone who wants to know what's happening in the 'boken. There's already a number of comments from people who've tried the bakery if you scroll down. If any of our readers have been to Sweet, please let us know what you think of them in the comments!

Oh, and one last thing: I can't seem to find a website for Sweet, at least as of now. If this changes, please let us know so that we can link them in our sidebar!

There's no website for Sweet, yet. But the cupcakes are all delicious, I seriously want to devour every single red velvet in the place!

This past Tuesday night my boyfriend and I stopped into Sweets after dinner to get coffee and dessert. The service was great. The young woman behind the counter, Lillian I believe her name was, really went out of her way to assist us. She explained the products and even made a few suggestions. We went with the red velvet, and it was quite possibly the best cupcake I have ever had.

The combination of great food, ambience and service has made this one of my new favorite places in Hoboken. We will definitely be back for me!

Found this place today with my husband and we tried five delicious "mini" cupcakes. They were only1.50 each. My favorite was the red velvet and his was the coconut. Very nice staff, clean and bright. Can't wait to try more! Because they offer minis I don't feel too bad!

I have been to Sweet twice and though the cupcakes tasted absolutely delicious, I felt service was horrible. The first time I dealt with a woman and she seemed not to want to assist. The second time a tall guy with red hair seemed not interested in serving me. I asked for service and he gesture with his hands opened, what do you want. I asked for the two minis, one red velvet and the other with an orange frosting. For the latter, I said I wanted "that one" because i wasn't sure what it was called and her answered sarcastically "what's that one!" Well I did get defensive and answered him the same way. I will not be going back there instead I'll make the treck to NY city to Buttercup bakery which tastes great and service is better. Maybe I was too dark or maybe a little to big for them to serve.

Umm YUM. The red velvet is amazing. Their marshmallow on the ganache is RIDICULOUS! And the tall guy behind the counter is really helpful. How did they get the chocolate buttercream to be so awesome? I'll be coming back to sweet!

We went and had 4 cupcakes and each was drier than the next. They were bland and the frosting tasted like plastic. The service was unwelcoming and it was dirty! All the tables were filthy and the chairs and floor were covered in crumbs. The counter girl watched as we cleaned our table off and did not offer to clean it. Not even mediocre! A total disappointment.
