Candy Cakes

A very pretty picture. This seems like a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Lucky Londoners! Has anyone given a review of Candy Cakes' cupcakes? I'd love to know what they are like.

They aren't cupcakes at all. They're bought in muffins topped with icing! What a let down.

I didn't write a review, but took more pictures when I was in London of Candy Cakes: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wolfsavard/tags/candycakes/

I asked the girl behind the counter which she recommended and she said the blueberry cheesecake cupcake. OMG it did not disappoint! It was so moist and delicious. The frosting is the unique part. It's smooth and quite sweet and mine was topped with these little sweet candies on top. It was definitely the most unique cupcake I've ever tried. And the cafe is absolutely adorable!

I had a candy cake when I was in London. It's really just a big muffin with hard sugary frosting and decorated with candy on top. the couple I had were pretty dry and sweet--nothing at all like a cupcake (although I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like a cupcake). It was a good experience, but the store was really crowded and the candy cakes were expensive (I think they were something like 3 or 4 GBP).

we have two of these near my work in covent garden. the cupcakes look stellar, you cannot pass their window with out stopping and staring for a minute. they have a good selection of flavours too. lots of different combinations. i have to be honest though, i don't think they taste near as good as they look. they're just ok. whenever i get a sugar craving that's where i end up going, but i am never entirely happy with the end result. three out of five stars maybe?

Thanks for sharing my photo! I never thought in a million years one of my photos would be on this blog - I've been reading for ages :)

I really liked the cupcake. I've heard some people say that they were dry, but mine was lovely. They're a bit more dense than an American cupcake, but I definitely wouldn't call it a muffin.

I'll definitely be going back. For you Londoners, the one on Goodge Street is almost always less busy than the one in Covent Garden.
I definitely agree with some of the comments here..I went on a mini cupcake tour of covent garden yesterday - you can check out my blog for the reviews and pics and I was so disappointed with candy cakes..I agree that they were just like muffins and the icing wasn't spectacular - yes they look good but that's where it ends...and we got shakes too and I couldn't believe them! they weren't thick at all and definitely not what I'd call a shake..overpriced and def overated I'm afraid.
