I discovered Tessa of cookies and candids on Flickr (username: tessastrauss), and she has kindly allowed me to spotlight her amazing cupcake photos. She calls it "baking-therapy" on her blog (I have cupcake-eating-therapy, ha!) and writes:
I love the challenge of baking, of not knowing what shape your batter will take in the oven or how the flavors will change; the constant experiment is exhilarating, and I can spend hours researching and perfecting a recipe.

What stood out for me about her cupcakes are their creativity and sense of fun. I mean, chocolate and tomato? And the nasturtiums...those were the ones that first captured my eye. Chocolate-tomato cupcake (recipe from "Thunder Cake" by Patricia Polacco) with vegan cream cheese frosting (frosting had tomato paste in it and was delicious!)
Chocolate merlot cupcake
Carrot cake cupcakes with vegan cream cheese frosting and nasturtiums on top for decoration
Dark chocolate cupcake and chocolate filling, with Coconut Caramel Fudgy Frosting from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over The World
And the inside:
Strawberry lemonade cupcake
And last but not least...basketball cupcakes!
Garam Masala chocolate coconut cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting decorated to look like basketballs...
