Kinda/sorta off topic, because when I first wrote about it, I thought it would be cupcake-related, but I was mistaken. The CTTC'ers were invited to Food Network's launch for Food2 and I went because Rachel and Nichelle were unavailable.
It was fun to spend time with people whose work I've enjoyed, like Zach Brooks of Midtown Lunch, Justin Schwartz of JustcookNYC, and chef Spike Mendelsohn of Top Chef. I also loved spending more time with the lovely Hitha Prabhakar, whom I just saw (on a huge flat-panel TV last night at a club, no less) on MTV's MADE!
Anyway, even though there weren't cupcakes, there were whoopie pies, which were tasty. As a vegetarian, I couldn't eat the mutton burgers, or country ham biscuits, but I did like the homemade whoopie pies.
And now for the pics:

Chef Spike and his girlfriend, Alyssa.

Dave Cook of Eating in Translation (who may have a good New Orleans cupcake story to share with us, waiting to hear back on that), Zach from Midtown Lunch (who was on Rachel's SXSW food panel, Nom Nom Nom), and Food2's Amateur Gourmet host Adam Roberts (who also may have a cupcake story to share...).
And cookbook editor Justin Schwartz, whose work I admire:

And the aforementioned whoopie pies:
