I will post more about the cupcakes I found at Heathrow Airport; there, apparently, Starbucks is selling lemon and strawberry cupcakes, and EAT had a selection of 3 types of cupcakes. In the US, Starbucks is only selling cupcakes seasonally, and that time has sadly passed (I was into their chocolate one). I was pleasantly surprised to see them after a week finding nary a true cupcake in Switzerland.
Wish I could head to London for this (I don't want to be a broken record, but suffice it to say, if I had unlimited time/money/a cupcake benefactor, I would be flying all over to cover these cupcake events and taste all these yummy cupcakes around the world - in the meantime, I have a mental wishlist of cupcake cities I want to visit, including London, Seattle, Las Vegas and Chicago).

Cupcakes. In just a few years, Londoners went from having scarce few bakeries from which to purchase these little treats to hardly being able to walk down the street without catching a glimpse at all manner of food porn baked goods in the window of some tawdry storefront.
Well, we've decided to see which of London’s cupcake peddlers can hold their own in a Cupcake Throwdown! The competition is to happen on the 29th of May, when a crack team of judges will let their oh so sophisticated palettes determine which cupcakes are the most moistest … most delicate … most delicious and satisfying in London.
Which bakeries are already on board? Bea's of Bloomsbury, Buttercup Cake Shop, Faircake and Outsider Tart.
See Londonist for more info, and here's how to get in touch with them:
