Willamette Week alerted us to the fact that Portland, Oregon bakery Cupcake Jones is celebrating its anniversary tomorrow (Tuesday, July 7th) from 6-9 pm. Here's the scoop direct from the Cupcake Jones blog:

Can you believe it’s been two years since we opened our doors on that 105 degree day in July?

We’re throwing a party to say thank you for your support. Come and help us celebrate!

NEXT TUESDAY July 7th, 2009

6pm – 9pm

This is an all ages event featuring:

Light snacks
Beverages
Slide Show
Music
Friends
DRAWINGS for PRIZES
Swag
and…Cupcakes

Please come to this very casual celebration and allow us to show you how much we appreciate your support. We wouldn’t be here without each and every one of YOU!

The party is NOT at the bakery. It is being hosted by our dear friends at “Pearl Woodworks” on 11th and Everett, just around the corner from the bakery.

Can’t wait to see you there. This is open to everyone so bring your friends.

And here's a bit from the Willamette Week blog:

For two years, the specialty bakery on Northwest 10th Avenue has been churning out gourmet cupcakes sophisticated enough for an adult, but with all the miniature delight and hand-held convenience of the kid’s classic. Cupcake Jones offers six flavors a day, three of which are constants: The Pearl, a luscious vanilla velvet cake with vanilla buttercream frosting; Downtown Cupcake Brown, a dark, sensual all-chocolate confection; and Velvet Painting, red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream filling and cream cheese frosting.

On Facebook, they also offer a cupcake public service announcement I think we could all use:

Cupcake Jones wants to remind you that real buttercream melts FAST! On hot days like today, keep your cupcakes cool ALL THE TIME! It literally takes 2 to 3 minutes for our delicious fudge frosting to melt in 90 degree weather. If you pick up cupcakes today, take them in an air conditioned car, keep them inside (air conditioning is best), and if you take them outside, serve them right away.
