Interesting cupcake bakery naming story: Sivada's Cupcakery

An interesting little piece from The Florida-Times Union blog on how Sivada's Cupcakery got its name:

When Alex Davis was trying to come up with a name for his gourmet cupcake shop, he and his wife considered Gallery Cupcakes. They liked Treats Cupcake House. But they both thought Vanilla's had the best ring.

When they launched their first shop a little more than a year ago in Avondale, Vanilla's Cupcakery was born.

But Davis wasn't the only baker who liked the name. On the left coast, a trendy bakery that's been written up in celebrity magazines as well as in Bon Appetit and The New York Times had the name Vanilla Bake Shop first.

A couple of months ago, the Santa Monica, Calif., bakery sent Davis a letter letting him know and asking him to change his shop's name. In the past month, Davis has quietly transformed his shop in Avondale and a second in Julington Creek to Sivada's Cupcakery.

According to their site, they're celebrating their new name with a cupcake sale: buy 3 get 1 free every Tuesday in September.

I'm drooling over their flavors. I think my top favorites would be banana cream filled, chocolate cherry mousse, peanut butter cup, lemon pound, and chocolate cherry pecan!
