Turns out I'm staying a few blocks from cereal bar/cupcake bakery The Shoppe at 3103 East Colfax Avenue in Denver, where the first half of our cupcake meetup is being held tomorrow from noon to 1:30 (join us!), so I stopped in last night to check it out. I'm a night owl so I love that they're open til 2 am! We were there around 8 pm and I was told that late night they tend to sell out of cupcakes, but still; even in New York most bakeries are closed by 11 or 12. The atmosphere was really fun, with kitschy art on the walls and a wide selection of board games.
I was so impressed that they had mini cupcakes for $1.50 each in a wide variety of flavors. I was told flavors change each month so I will try the ones I didn't get to try tomorrow and will do a writeup later; my favorite so far is the s'mores! Today I'm visiting Nomelie Cupcakes in Parker and tomorrow after the meetups I'm going to Tee & Cakes and Boulder Baked!
