Reynolds + Sweetiepie Restaurant + bloggers = fun cupcake tea

My good friend Amy Brachman came to NYC last week to talk about Reynolds Baked for You cupcake cups specifically, and cupcake culture in general. Amy, who was recently promoted out of the job, was the brand manager of Reynolds baking cups and she and her P.R. pal Lauren hosted Nichelle and I (as well as a few other bloggers) at Sweetiepie Restaurant for a cupcake tea.

Amy, cupcake star!

The group, enjoying the cupcake tea. I see people from imnotobsessed.com, Dessert Professional mag., MomInTheCity.com, and MomTrends.com, among others.

The spread. As a vegetarian, there were no sammiches I could eat, so I can't comment on how they tasted.

I did, however, enjoy my fair share of "scones with clotted cream and jam." I use the quotes here because I was told by my seatmate, the knowledgeable Tish Boyle from Dessert Professional magazine, that these were neither traditional scones (agreed, they were more like cookies) nor clotted cream nor traditional jam. The cream, I think, was just whipped cream, and the jam was more like jelly, but they all tasted good together.

I was also happy to meet Matthew Stevens, coeditor (with Tish) of Dessert Professional. In small-world news, he's also a friend of my buddy Pamela Jenkins of The Cupcakery. But I digress. Back to the "scones."

Bucking the tea trend, I requested coffee. I think I probably should have had the tea though, as the coffee wasn't very good.

In addition to cupcakes baked at the restaurant (in Baked for You cups, of course), we were also treated to gorgeous cupcakes decorated by cupcake genius Karen Tack of Hello, Cupcake! and the new (just-released) What's New, Cupcake?.

How amazing are these?

Thank you, Karen, for these beauties.

My favorite was the monkey. Adorable!

Best-tasting, in my opinion, this vanilla cupcake with scrumptious chocolate disc topper bearing the Reynolds cupcake logo:

Here are two bloggers (I am SO embarrassed not to remember their names, especially as the second lady lives on my block!) with a Reynolds Staybrite cupcake cup:

One of the things I like best about the Baked for You cups is the StayBrite technology. The patterns stay (bright!) even after you cook in them. (No more grease or oil soaking the cups through, obscuring the color or pattern.) All the different colors and patterns make it easy to celebrate holidays and special occasions exactly the way you want. And, you don't need to put the cups in a cupcake pan, you can bake them right on a cookie tray, as the foil helps them maintain their shapes.

Amy tells us that the cups will be available in Kroger nationwide beginning May 1!

And my favorite picture of Amy, laughing at some cupcake comment.
