Starting today, New York's Billy's Bakery is selling these back to school cupcakes for a special cause, through September 15th. From the press release:
Baking for Good (www.bakingforgood.com), an online gourmet bakery, offers delectable, all-natural brownies, cookies and other sweet treats with a tasteful twist: 15% of all proceeds are donated to a charitable cause of the customer’s choice. With their latest partnership, Baking for Good is taking their sweetness offline and into Billy’s Bakery- Tribeca, a New York City bakery famous for their classic baked goods. Billy’s Bakery will sell custom designed cupcakes to benefit Free Arts NYC, a local charity providing under-served children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs. Having served more than 25,000 children and families since its founding in 1998, Free Arts NYC seeks to help city children foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential.

They're set to open their third New York City location in November (after Chelsea and Tribeca) in NoLita.
The cupcake purveyor recently signed a 10-year least for almost 300 square feet at 268 Elizabeth St., between Prince and East Houston streets. Asking rent for the space, which includes a storage basement of the same size, was nearly $250 a square foot.
This is just blocks away from Little Cupcake Bakeshop, which will open this fall and is hiring (photos by me, taken Saturday):
