First attempt at baking Vanilla Cupcakes

Cupcakes
Almost two years ago, I baked my first ever vanilla cupcakes from scratch. Growing up in a household where the oven was used as a storage container (as was the dishwasher), "baking" never meant anything more challenging than a 10-minute boxed mix. I still remember my first time following a recipe* for these these soft distinctly vanilla-flavored cupcakes, not pound cake or yellow cake in disguise. And certainly unlike a box mix.

What about you? Do you remember your first vanilla cupcake baking attempt? What recipe did you use? Do sprinkles and stars make food tastier, or is it just me?

My first attempt was last Thursday and I must admit: YES sprinkles and stars do make food tastier. I wanted to make blue cupcakes for my godchild's birthday (a boy) but I accidentally used yellow colorant (which gives no colour whatsoever to butter), so I added red and ended up with pink cupcakes. Luckily my godchild was more interested in the taste than the colour... I used a recipe for butter-chocolate cupcakes and I will be trying out some new recipes soon!
