Forget the reality TV show "Cupcake Wars", the real war is over Magnolia Bakery...in Greece. Page Six reports that Magnolia Bakery owners Steve and Tyra Abrams are suing its co-founder, Jennifer Appel -- who sold her share of Magnolia in 1999 and opened the rival Buttercup Bake Shop on Second Avenue in Midtown -- claiming she deliberately helped Kotovos by handing over Magnolia's recipes and business secrets, allowing her to open an unauthorized "Magnolia Bakery" in Greece.

Here's my two cents: Since Jennifer Appel sold her share in Magnolia Bakery more than ten years ago, it would seem odd that she would have been required to sign a non-compete with the current owners. Also, is the name "Magnolia Bakery" protected outside of the United States?
