Bacon is best and other lessons I learned at TECHmunch

One of the lessons I learned at TECHmunch yesterday is that when you post something with bacon on it, people will like it. I think the same is true of cupcakes, though I also know we have lots of vegetarian readers, so I'm incorporating both into this post. I've had delicious bacon cupcakes, but I think what I like best about them is the salt they bring to it, giving a salty/sweet contrast. Cupcakes with salt, whether in the form of peanut butter, or just salt (like the Veruca Salt with four kinds of salt at Chicago's Bleeding Heart Bakery), are underrated in my opinion. Which brings me to Nate's Cupcakes, who offer cupcake delivery and custom cupcake pickup in Hinesburg, Vermont, where they're serving up maple bacon cupcakes as well as all the flavors below, all via their Facebook page. I like the looks of the bacon and that the red velvet cupcake has a little bit of red velvet cake sprinkled on top - adds a little color and lets you know right away that it's red velvet!
