Rich red velvet cupcakes with thick cream cheese frosting and brownie cupcakes coming to London's about-to-open Brownie Bar

One thing I love about traveling, or those rarer moments at home when I just get to wander around, is making random discoveries. That happened yesterday when I was near Earl's Court and decided to take a walk and found a little pre-opening party for Brownie Bar, which will, of course, focus on brownies, but will also have red velvet cupcakes and brownie cupcakes and possibly others. They are slated to open this Wednesday or Thursday so hopefully someone else can offer up a proper report as I go back to New York today. Thank you, Brownie Bar, for the free cupcake!

Now, I am not a huge lover of red velvet cupcakes in general, but this one looked extremely inviting. Surprisingly, I liked the cream cheese frosting (not my favorite) better than the cake, which was a gorgeous shade of red and very fresh and moist but just didn't have that much flavor. Despite that, the combo of cake and frosting was good and for some reason, non-cream cheese frosting person that I am, I was drawn to its ultra thickness, and since they haven't even officially opened yet, they'd be worth checking out again, especially for brownie cupcakes! Plus there was cupcake art decorating the walls and it was a cute shop. Next trip!
