Baker's Question: Is Cheesecake Pie or Cake?

As I was thinking about the upcoming pie chat this Sunday, I wondered if people think of cheesecake. Is it considered to be more like cake or more like pie?

It has cake in its name, but just as sweetbreads are not sweet; we can't assume that cheesecake is cake. I posted the question on both Twitter and Facebook today, and the answers are split 50/50. Just because cheesecake doesn't contain flour or a rising agent doesn't mean it is not a cake. Conversely jsut because cheesecake has a crust doesn't mean that it is a pie. Let us know what you think in the comments.
