Better than a Hostess cupcake...?

or so the critic promises, on this New York Times audiovisual slideshow about cupcakes in NYC (from 2003).

The above cupcake, which is part of the slideshow, is from catering company/cafe Sage American Kitchen/Cafe St. Bart's in Long Island City, Queens.

Sage makes the cupcakes in homage to the Hostess cupcakes that many of us remember from childhood (they even have the cream filling like the Hostess ones do). The only difference is that theirs are supposed to be tastier and more grown up.

These cupcakes are available at their cafe, but also at the following L.I.C. museums: P.S. 1, Isamu Noguchi, and The American Museum of the Moving Image.

I can't wait to try one.
