How often do you eat cupcakes?

Probably twice a month.

What's the best thing about eating cupcakes?

When they're linked to an occasion and thus-themed - like, I recently made music-note-decorated cupcakes for a "broadway" party and drew little Oscar statuettes on cupcakes for an oscar party. Also cupcakes can be used as a great tool for flirting because you can feed them to people and take a bite out yourself at the same time. It's like the lady and the tramp of the 21st century.

What's your favorite type of cupcake?

Red velvet with white icing on top. I have been told they taste no different from regular yellow-cake/white icing ones but I swear they are infinitely better, sweeter, moister, more sensual somehow...

Favorite place to get cupcakes?

Buttercup Bake Shop on the upper east side - just because on the window it says "Life is uncertain; eat dessert first."

How do cupcakes compare/contrast to other baked goods for you?

Their single-serving size makes them enjoyable without having potential binge-potential written all over them. they are prettier than full cakes. They are
crowd-pleasers at parties. You don't have to cut them (but you can if you want)--it's all about *options*.

Is there any innovation you'd like to see made to the cupcake that would improve it for you?

A crumb-catcher than can be placed under the cupcake and thereby prevent me from sleeping in cupcake crumbs, as I did last sunday night, because I have eaten them in bed.

Any other thoughts on the topic?

Magnolia Bakery needs tables and chairs.
