Being a corner bakery in the East Village sounds like a great location, right? Maybe not if you're a couple doors down from the famous Veniero's, but Something Sweet on the corner of 11th and 1st are doing OK. Plus, they have cupcakes! Cupcakes fans, tell us if you have sampled the cupcakes at Something Sweet. Inquiring minds want to know!

I had to visit this place after you mentioned it and get the cupcake, of course. Here's a bunch of photos. I warmed the cupcake in the oven instead of eating it right away (which I could've easily done!) so that made it taste better than if it had just been...cold. The chocolate chips in the cake cake was a nice surprise. I like cupcakes with obscene amounts of icing, which this one didn't resemble, but any cupcake is fine with me. :)

Their website is http://www.dessertpastry.com/. I like their cupcakes, which also come in carrot cake, yummy. Also, they are only $1!!!

Their cupcakes are delish - not too much frosting and the cake itself is better than anything I've had at Magnolia's.

But if you really, truly want something decadent, try one (or three) of their TRUFFLE BUTTONS!! It's a french macaroon layered with a dollop of ganache and covered with semi-sweet chocolate....The texture of the chewy cookie and the creamy yum-yum goodness of the truffle "filling" is amazing!! They cost $1 each but they're sooo worth it.
