Blogging: What's Race Got To Do With It?

I'm so proud that our very own Nichelle (along with our good friend Liza) is raising these issues in a public forum.

What does this have to do with cupcakes, you ask? Nothing. But if you read this cupcake blog, that might be because you read lots of blogs, and/or are a blogger yourself. And I want to help Nichelle and Liza get the word out on this very timely topic.

There's definitely been some recent controversy on this subject. I think the tendency amongst most (white) bloggers is to ignore race and think it doesn't, or "shouldn't" matter.

But race does still matter, profoundly, and we need to continue learning how to talk about it and be comfortable talking about it if we're ever going to get anywhere as a society.

Cultural differences, class differences, differential access to technology (and even basic education), etc., etc.--there's a lot to unpack there, and I'm glad to have friends who are looking to help initiate that conversation.

So, if you're obsessed with blogging (like I am), I expect to see you there.

If not, don't worry, we'll be back to obsessing over cupcakes in a minute.
