Limited edition raspberry cupcakes at Seattle's Cupcake Royale

We're big fans of Seattle bakery Cupcake Royale, based on word of mouth, interesting flavors, kick-ass attitude (they have stickers that say "Legalize Frostitution" and "I'm Pro-Cupcake And I Vote" and they marched in the Seattle Gay and Lesbian Parade), cool t-shirts and nifty designs. I wish I could say I'd sampled their wares, but hopefully I will get to by year's end.

They are offering a new raspberry cupcake for the summer - click on the photo to visit their site:

I have to say, though, that when I finally get out to Seattle, I want to try their Peppermint Party:

Mint the way it was meant to be: delicious, refreshing, and brought to you by way of butter cream! It’s a hearty party for sure. Don’t rock it solo though, this cool treat comes on both chocolate and vanilla cake.

Tell us in the comments what YOU think of Cupcake Royale!

On our spring break trip to Seattle, we went out of our way to hit Cupcake Royale. YUMMY! That pepperminty cupcake was absolutely delicious, the lemon one was good too, but the lavender was a bit lavendery. Not their fault I didn't like it, it was just not my thing. :]

Well worth a trip.

I live in Seattle and I have to say, CR does not have that great of a product, they just happen to be the only cupcake shop in Seattle, and they have hip t-shirts. We also have a hip chain of donut shops called top pot that opened around the same time, that has greasy donuts with funky names and a hip pseudo-political branding strategy (picture a communist worker guy hammering out a donut). Cute at first, but gets old eventually.

I just moved to west seattle where cupcake royale opened their newest shop, and I discovered that the Sugar Rush Baking Company across the street has nicer cupcakes in a variety of decorative styles, as well as other yummy stuff.

I am jealous of California where there are places like Sprinkles and Leda's Bake Shop. Those are some pretty cupcakes.

I agree with sb, the cupcakes at Cupcake Royale are just ok. The cake consistency is a bit like cornbread. Kind of dry and flavorless. The staff kind of has a "Seattle Indie" attitude. A good ole' "Enjoy your cupcake" would be nice to hear every now and then. I like to support bsuinesses that have nice staff. But they ARE the only cupcake place in Seattle, so they have the corner on the market.

Good tip about the Sugar Rush Baking Co. across the street. I'll be taking my business there instead.

I live in Seattle and know of a great place to get cupcakes...Bella Dolce (2711 E Madison St, Seattle- #206-325-9539). I live near a CR, but their cupcakes are horrible, so I drive across town to Bella Dolce. My favorite is a chocolate with cream cheese frosting. They also make a few other flavors. Another place to try is Grand Central Bakery (214 1st Ave S, Seattle- #206-622-3644). They're not my favorite but well-made and a little different from my usual. -Amy

To be honest the best best place in Seattle for Cupcakes is Trophy Cupcake in Seattle. They are truly gourmet cupcakes to the nth degree!!! They were moist, not too sweet and artisticly beautiful!!! They by far take the cake from Cupcake Royale. Check out their website..... www.trophycupcake.com.
I live in West Seattle, and discovered Sugar Rush (across the street fro Cupcake Royale on California) a while ago. I have to say: these guys blow Cupcake Royale out of the water. CR, I think, is coasting on reputation. Yes, they're cool and hip. But when it comes down to it the cupcakes just aren't that good. The cupcakes at Sugar Rush are that good. OMG are they good.
