I went to Philadelphia this past weekend, and my friend told me about Brown Betty Dessert Boutique which is on 1030 North 2nd Street (Northern Liberties neighborhood) Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to sample their cupcakes, but if any of you readers have been there, please let us know. Brown Betty is amazing! Some of the best cupcakes I've ever had. If you like chocolate, it gets no better than the 'Hattie Don't Play' cupcake; the cake is so moist and dense it's delirium-inducing, and the frosting is heavenly. The pineapple pound cake cupcakes - called 'Aunt Eva Says' - are delicious. Also the almond poundcake. And the sour cream poundcake. Oh, they're all delicious. And pretty, too! The place is small and lovely, and the service is always so friendly. Obviously, I highly recommend it!

Brown Betty is the best cupcake bakery in the city. My mom and I have searched far and wide for great cupcakes and Brown Betty literally takes the cake. I'm am in love with the Strawberry and Pineapple Pound cupcakes. The place is lovely and so is the staff and owners.
