I have to admit I'm a frosting girl.

frosting is delicious, but I think for me, the cake...takes the cake.

It's the counterpoint of sweet, sleek frosting and moist dense cake--the synergy of the two. Frosting without cake, cake without frosting . . . I need them both!

I like a good frosting, but there has to be at least a little cake for it to be truly enjoyed!

Cake cake cake! Give me the main course!

I know a lot of people that aren't into frosting, scrape it off and eat the dry cake. Gak! I am all about the frosting! Pile it on, loads of it, smoosh it into a gajillian sprinkles or a mound of coconut! Whip it up into lovely roses or pipe out a name or message! Freehand with an offset spatula or neatly groomed with a comb, messy and spilling over the cupcake liner or neatly coiffed on top in a sweet spiral. I will add my name to the list of frosting girls!

Cake all the way. People keep telling me to put more frosting on my cupcakes but I happen to like a higher cake to frosting ratio. Frosting looks pretty though so sometimes I put more just for the art of it.
Frosting is my favorite part -- there really can't be enough of it.

I want to have my cake and eat it too...with just enough frosting to add the yum factor!

The frosting makes the cake, as it were. If a really delicious cake has really horrible frosting ( that sickly sweet, generic grocery store bakery frosting comes to mind), it just ruins the whole deal.

Frosting is only as good as the cake it's covering. I enjoy when people take the time to chose a frosting that compliments the cake, rather than slapping heavy, thick frosting onto a delicate cupcake. That said, I think I'll stick to cake; you can eat cake all by itself with some milk, but frosting by itself will just give you a sugar rush!

Mmmm...so hard. I mean, even the best frosting can't rescue the driest, most lifeless cupcake. And a good cupcake sans frosting is just...a muffin (BLAH). As for which one I'd want to lick the bowl more, that would be frosting, especially if it's whip cream based.

I always used to eat the frosting off first, but I think I loved the cake the most.

it's the cake that can make or break an adorable cupcake. beauty can only take a cupcake so far, before the cake must step up and impress!

The other day I ate at well-lauded Sweet Lady Jane's in LA, and while their cake was excellent, the frosting was among the worst I've ever had, much worse than supermarket frosting. It totally ruined the cupcake for me. I would be more forgiving of a lesser cake with fantastic frosting.

Not fair. I have to have BOTH. Cake without frosting is no good.... but just frosting is entirely too sweet. So, a match made in heaven.

You see...here's the thing. Most times I prefer the taste of the frosting. Yet you take so much time and effort to make the cake delicious I feel like a trader choosing the icing! Frosting can be really super simply yet still super tastey. I might have to go with the cake purely because it has more substance in my mind. Accomplishing the perfect cake seems to me a much more respectable quest!
