Cupcake Laine got a well-deserved bit of press this weekend in the article "Let Them Eat Cupcakes" in The Telegram. We even get a shoutout!
They may give her customers the warm and fuzzies, but Rideout’s cupcakes are far more gourmet than those found at school bake sales. Her menu consists of about 20 different flavours, including S’more Please — a chocolate cupcake with a marshmallow centre, topped with chocolate ganache and garnished with a chocolate drizzled graham cracker — and She Wore Red Velvet, a delectable red velvet cupcake topped with a swirl of rich cream cheese frosting.
Her best sellers are her Republic of Newfoundland cupcakes, pound cake filled with Purity partridgeberry or bakeapple jam and frosted with green, white and pink icing. They were recently featured on a New York-based blog about cupcakes.
“I was thrilled to be on that site, acknowledged in the cupcake community,” Rideout said.
At $24 a dozen with delivery included, Rideout’s cupcakes are cheaper to send than flowers, she said, and have more benefits, including a thank-you kiss that is guaranteed to taste like icing.
“Really, instead of flowers, send cupcakes — at least then you have a good chance of getting one.”
They're also on Flickr, where I grabbed these photos from. Shown just above are cheesecake cupcakes.
