Easier.com is reporting the opening of London's Buttercup Cake Shop (no relation to the one in New York) at 16 St. Albans Grove. They're also on Gridskipper's map of London cupcakes.
The first London bakery dedicated solely to cupcakes, buttercup boasts an impressive array of more-ish American-style "fairy cakes" all made daily by hand and ranging from the "vanilla purist" to such original creations as banoffee, chocolate cinnamon, sticky toffee or cookies 'n' cream cupcakes.
Buttercup founder, Donna Egan, a transplant from California, says “I was looking to elevate to a new height the cupcakes I enjoyed as a child, so we use only the finest ingredients like Callebaut Belgian chocolate, sweet creamery butter and Nielsen-Massey vanilla. We’ve tested and adjusted our recipes over and over in order to achieve just the right taste and texture of the American cupcakes here in the UK.”
