Lulu's Cupcakes in Scottsdale, Arizona

Lulu's Cupcakes located at 7607 E. McDowell Road in Scottsdale, Arizona, was started by a speech pathologist, Danielle Lowe, who decided to try her hand at cupcakes. (This is not to be confused with the apparently well-known Boston (North End) bakery Lulu's Bake Shoppe, which we'll have some photos from soon.)

From the Arizona Republic article:

Q: How did you come up with your outrageous cupcake names, like Mood Elevator (coffee buttercream on chocolate cake), Chocoschnitzel (German chocolate cake) and the racy D-Cupcake daily specials?

A: A lot of hilarious brainstorming sessions with family and friends.

Q: Your menu says, "Call ahead and we'll make your favorite flavors. Orders must be placed by blah blah blah . . . ." What time is that, exactly?

A: All special orders vary on lead time. Thus, we encourage customers to call, even if it is last minute.

Q: What's the most unusual "favorite flavor" request you've gotten?

A: Banana cake with German-chocolate icing.

Q: What are your children's favorite flavors?

A: Lulu loves the Tantrum Tamer (chocolate buttercream on vanilla cake), because she needs a lot of them. She's 2. Allison, 7, loves the Raven (chocolate buttercream on chocolate cake) and John, 5, loves the Bunny Boo (cream-cheese buttercream on carrot cake)
