I live right in the neighborhood of this bakery and they have been promising that they were going to open for the past couple of weeks. I'm glad they are finally open, hopefully it's as good as everyone has hyped it to be!

OK, I'm officially hungry now.

Aside from checking out your newest posts I wanted to turn you on to my new Surfer's Paradise Carnival. I hope you'll join in.

Just wanted to say I love your blog. But it makes me hungry! I come from Canada but live in the UK. They are a bit confused about cupcakes here at the moment.

I've been waiting patiently for Babycakes to open and I wasn't disappointed. I had a selection of 5, all very delicious. I've been to cupcake stores in Portland and Vancouver, B.C and this one measures up nicely. I will be frequenting this new find often and will need to increase my exercise routine to compensate:)

I visited Babycakes store in Sacramento on Friday, November 23rd at 5:30 PM. I purchased 6 cupcakes at full price and a $20 gift certificate. I took my cupcakes to a small birthday party where I included the gift certificate in my gift and we sampled the cupcakes. Unfortunately the cupcakes were all dry and unedible. My $20 gift certificate became a nice thought but not something that the receiver will ever use.

I don't know what Babycakes owners' business plan is but selling dry cupcakes to unsuspecting customers is not a plan that will keep them in business for very long.

Anonymous above has to be from a rival cupcake shop or just a warped nutcase. The cupcakes i purchased from babycakes were clearly superior to any cupcakes in Sacramento. They were moist, beautiful, and absolutely delicious. The cakes were a hit at my office.Only because we don't have two lunch breaks did we not go back the same day for more!

I went to Babycakes on 1/24 and thought it was well worth it. They were dense, without being dry, and the frosting was flavorful, not overly sweet. We recently moved from NYC so I've had my fair share share of Magnolia's, Buttercup, and Crumbs cupcakes. I thought the people were ultra-friendly. They even offered to make me a vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles (not on the menu, but I think it should be). The sprinkles are very good (definitely not the cheap kind from the grocery store). I was surprised to hear that someone thought they were dry. They should go back and try again.

I have agree with the one person who thinks it is a rival bakery. I went there once while visiting Sacramento and now have to go every time I visit from LA to pick up for friends in LA. We agree they are better than Sprinkles and half the price.

Note that both of the anonymous folks above who think that the negative review came from a "rival bakery" come from the SAME IP ADDRESS.

Additionally, note that fake positive reviews have been popping up on Yelp, and folks who have the temerity to post a negative review are being harassed by Babycakes' management.

I thought the cupcakes were decent - good even - but after hearing about how they treat their customers - and after experiencing the attitude and mean service there myself - I'm not going back, even though the cupcakes were good. I just don't want to subject myself to that negativity.
