Oprah loves cupcakes!

Oprah has chosen Perfect Endings Cupcakes from Williams Sonoma as one of her Favorite Things of 2007! AND this is a way for all of you who are always asking us to ship cupcakes (more on that later, because other bakeries are also taking up that much-needed service).

From Oprah.com

Sam Godfrey, the cake genius behind Oprah's 400-pound 50th birthday cake, is bringing his sweet treats to the masses for the first time. Perfect Endings Cupcakes can be shipped anywhere in the United States and come in three fabulous flavors: red velvet with white icing, chocolate with chocolate sprinkles and coconut.

And for something funny, but un-cupcake related, some over-the-top studio audience reactions at the big giveaway Oprah show (she gives away her favorite items to all audience members) from Jezebel

It's $59 for a set of 9 cupcakes and here's what Williams-Sonoma says:

Perfect Endings, the renowned Napa Valley bakery, makes these cupcakes for us from scratch, using fresh eggs, real butter and other premium ingredients. And they’re superb. Sam Godfrey, the founder, learned baking as a child under the strict tutelage of his Southern grandmother. This set includes three favorites re-created from her original recipes: rich chocolate, frosted with classic chocolate icing and scattered with dark chocolate sprinkles; red velvet, generously swirled with old-fashioned white icing and sprinkled with red velvet cake crumbs; and vanilla, slathered with vanilla icing and topped with shredded coconut. Quantities are limited; please place your order by noon (PST) November 23. 1 lb. 12 oz. Set of nine, three of each flavor. A Williams-Sonoma exclusive.

This is so awesome in so many ways. Shipping cupcakes--the ultimate challenge. It is so cool to see people finally figuring out solutions! I am curious to see how they're packaged!

Hi guys, I will tell you exactly how these beauties are packaged. I just received these wonderful gems as a birthday gift yesterday. First off they're shipped frozen. They come in a Williams-Sonoma box 16"Lx12"Wx8.5"D. Within this outer box is a styrofoam cooler that fits just within the outer box. Inside that is a another small box measuring 9.5"Lx9"Wx3"H. That box is packed in dry ice, which generally evaporates in shipping. I guess it depends on how far they're shipped. Within the small box are cardboard dividers much as you'd find in a Christmas ornament box that separates each cupcake. On top of the cup cakes is plastic wrap then bubble wrap. That my friends is how to ship a cupcake. Kinda explains why it's so expensive for 9, eh. ;) The directions say they keep for 3 days refrigerated or 2 months frozen. The directions read to thaw to room temperature for 2 hours. So far I've only tried the Chocolate and yes it is really delicious and extremely rich!
