Cupcakes in Honolulu!

I don't know about you, but when I'm contemplating a visit to a new city, I look around and see if they've got good cupcakes there. Mind you, I don't base my traveling decisions on that, but if there are cupcakes, I want to try to sample them (probably London will be next). Anyway, I've always dreamed of going to Hawaii, and lo and behold, Honolulu's got a bakery that sounds quite wonderful, Hokulani Bake Shop. Here's what they say about their cupcakes:

In April 2006 Hokulani Bakeshop launched a line of cupcakes, made from scratch, to complement the decorated sugar cookies. Hokulani cupcakes and cookies contain 100% real butter and sugar, with no hydrogenated oils (no margarine, no shortening) or corn syrup.

And check this out:

To attract more business, they created cupcakes that come with free delivery to the downtown area on their two-wheeled “cupcakemobile”: a bicycle.

They've gotten some great ratings on Yelp, and were in The Honolulu Advertiser's Best Restaurants 2007-2008, being hailed as "the go-to place for cupcakes." They've also gotten some buzz on various blogs.

They were written up in U.S. News and World Report:

Founding the Hokulani Bake Shop in late 2005, this couple got the idea to market their line of Hawaiian-themed specialty cookies and cupcakes after admiring famous New York City bakeries. With sales approaching $300,000 this year, Hokulani is now an Oahu tourist destination, and hokulanibakeshop.com is the online destination for out-of-towners craving the sweet Hawaiian creations. Says Tushar, "You build a little niche, and you continue to grow on that."
