The cupcake craze has come to Puyallup. Tucked into a cozy storefront in downtown Puyallup sits a counter with glass cake plates perched on stands, each holding a colorful collection of the single-serving treats.
Indulge Cupcakes, which has been open for about two months, is often filled with impromptu birthday parties, mothers treating young children, and local office workers in search of an afternoon treat.
Cupcake flavors and frostings differ daily, but standards include chocolate, vanilla, lemon, carrot cake and red velvet. Extra offerings on recent days have included a mocha frosted chocolate and a filled strawberry with pink frosting.
Owners Jen Quaschnik and Julie Jones choose each day’s extra flavors as they go.
“It’s kind of based on our moods,” said Quaschnik. “We bake whatever sounds good to us that day. We’re spicy like that.”
