Left plate: fondant flowered cupcakes, black forest cupcake.
Right plate: Chocolate cappuccino cupcake, Oreo Crunch cupcake, raspberry cupcake - all super delicious.
Our NYC Meetup today at Martha's Country Bakery was a big success. Though us bloggers were a bit late (sorry!), everyone found each other and got treated to Karen Tack and Alan Richardson showing off their forthcoming book Hello, Cupcake! (join them and us on April 23rd for a cupcake decorating demo and cupcake bar - sign up for the NYC Cupcakes Take the Cake Meetup Group for details). See more photos in my Flickr set and in Branille's Flickr set, and for those who took photos, feel free to email them to us at cupcakestakethecake at yahoo.com - thanks! And please leave your thoughts in the comments or email them to us - we hope everyone enjoyed themselves and welcome your suggestions.
Rachel's review: I sampled several cupcakes and all were delicious. One thing that impressed me the most was the moistness of the cake, especially the chocolate cake. The frostings were also a treat - I especially liked the Oreo Crunch and peanut butter ones, and the raspberry (a frosting flavor I've never had) was remarkable. The chocolate cappuccino cupcake was notable for both the strong coffee flavor of the frosting and the unusual cake. The fondant frosting reminded me of a black and white cookie and was really yummy without being overly sweet; I think those would be great for kids. And I'm a sucker for anything peanut butter, and really liked how simple the peanut butter frosting was. The red velvet was very rich (in a good way!). Also, the atmosphere here is great (I'm actually still here writing this up). It's spacious, friendly, they serve beverages and many other pastries and some snacks, and have tables and a counter. If you're in Astoria or will be in the neighborhood, this place is highly recommended (they also have a location in Forest Hills, Queens).
