Cupcakes from Scotland

From our reader, blogger Natalie:

Attached are a few cupcake pictures I took while visiting my sister in Scotland. The easter cupcakes are from Griggs Supermarket in Peebles, Scotland. The Chocolate cupcakes (next to the pink cake) are from a small, no name bakery in the town of Portree on the Island of Skye in the Scottish Highlands. The giant chocolate cupcake is from Chocolate Soup on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. I must say they were all delicious! It seems that cupcakes are a pretty popular item in Scotland - although I did not see any cupcake exclusive bakeries, they seemed to be everywhere else. The cute easter cupcakes were all done by hand in a chain supermarket! So I believe cupcakes are around for the long hall in Scotland.

Hmm, the last one's a cupcake alright - but I suspect the others are what we'd call buns!

Greggs cakes are HORRIBLE! They taste like plastic. Chocolate soup is lovely tho!

Yes greggs cakes might not taste so good, but they were quite pretty though!

Scotland does in fact have some great cupcakes. sweetlilyadams dot com based in Aberdeen have wonderful cakes and they are in a number of coffee shops around town as well.
