Gigi's Cupcakes are OVERRATED!!

The cupcakes are so dry, I have been twice and have yet to have one that didn't taste like it was made days before. Cake taste like boxed cake mix, the icing is average. I have had better cake from Harris Teeter! Not to mention the staff is less than friendly- listened to Gigi herself help 6 cusomters in front of me and not once did she thank one person. Not a good way to keep Nashvillians coming back.

Don't waste your time waiting in line of your money.

I have visited GiGI's several times now and have yet to have a bad cupcake. These cupcakes rock! The buttercream frosting is to die for and the cake is moist and delicious. I've also found GiGi to be extremely helpful and nice. I've tried cupcakes all over town and I think she's got a winning business here. Hurray for Gigi's!

I also had a horrible experience with the cupcakes. I had purchased four cupcakes and in one of the cupcakes was a piece of cardboard from the cake mix that is used. I called to report what I had found and was asked whether there was anything ELSE wrong. I replied other than the cardboard (the size was bigger than a quarter), no. The next day I took the cupcake in so that they could see that it was not something small, but rather large and I was told that things happen and asked if I would like another cupcake. I said no and they were kind enough to refund my $3.00, but not without an attitude. I was very disappointed and will not be back. Don't waste your gas to blow $3.00 on something not that special.

I have been a true believer of Gigi's cupcakes since the day she opened. I love every single one I have tried. Every one in my office loves them and we go there several times a week! LOVE THEM!! I love the cake and the icing is amazing.

I guess I must be going on the days when the dry cake is served, I have been three times at this point and will not be back. For $3.00 a pop you would expect a fresh cupcake and also one that is moist. I purchased the Boston Cream cupcake and was disappointed to find no cream in the middle.

I have figured it out... Her any of Gigi's chocolate cake is dry, in fact, very very dry. Her yellow cake is not. The Boston Creme is to die for! By far the best. My only complaint is that she needs to open at 8:00 M-F. She isnt open for those of us that work and would like to take a few to the office! I have seen Gigi (Jenni) be rude to more than a few customers, but her brother is very very nice!

I have been wanting to figure out this cupcake craze thing since I saw Sprinkles on Martha Stewart and finally after several attempts around town- I figured it out with Gigi's cupcakes! First I went to Puffy Muffin in Brentwood tried 3 different cupcakes- not good. Then my 2nd attempt- Green Hills area- Whole Foods market- not good- those one's came from Texas. Finally today I went to Gigi's, I used common sense and thought Hmm monday morning would be a good time because they probably bake them fresh in the morning- I was right- AMAZING!!! Now I finally understand! The Hunka Chunka Banana and Red Raspberry Delight are my favorites!

I went to Gigi's today after lunch with my wife and 3 other friends and we were terribly disappointed. I got the Boston Cream at the recommendation of the clerk, but the cake was so dry I didn't eat the last half of it, and I never found the alleged cream. My wife and our 3 friends that went with us all ended up throwing away a good portion of their cupcakes as well because of how dry theirs also were and how little taste they had. We each had a different kind (wedding, Texas Chocolate, Tophat) so the problem is obviously not contained to just one type of cupcake. It seemed almost like they were serving cupcakes that were several days old and had not been contained very well since being baked.

I hope they figure this out because it's a great treat to have close by, but I won't be back until I hear that they have figured out to bake a moist cupcake that lives up to its namesake.

Missing the mark big time!

When I went into Gigi's I felt like I walked into the "bad tile" section of Home Depot...and then was met with it's matching laminate countertop which is being used as the main focal point of the store not to mention they ripped off the whole Sprinkles display design. I was annoyed that the cupcake was so big it needed a plate and I was handed a styrophoam plate that wasn't strong enough to hold the cupcake and a beige fork from Costco to help me eat it. I was disappointed that the branding wasn't thought through. There are about 3 different pinks used inside none of which match the logo. I couldn't read the menu at all because of the horrible scripty font...and I didn't know what the 3 mini cupcakes by the words meant? We met a friend there thinking there would be a place to eat but yet were forced to stand in a corner. By the time I put the cupcake in my mouth I was just frustrated with the entire experience. The cupcake was just fine but I'm glad I wasn't given the one with icing running down the side like some of the others in the case. I didn't understand the lack of uniformity from one cupcake of the same variety to the next. I have had Magnolia bakery and Sprinkles plus a few locally here and I just didn't think Gigi's was anywhere close. Maybe by now some of these problems have been fixed. I just don't think this place deserves all the hype. Is Nasvhille dying for something hip so bad that they don't even recognize that they got the "poor man's" version?

I agree that the cupcakes were a disappointment. I tried the Tiramisu cupcake and I was hoping that it would be moist. It was dry and the icing was not moist either. I think that the cupcake was not prepared that day. I have had better cupcakes in NYC (i.e. Magnolia's) and locally, at Publix. Plus, when I was there, the cashier was snooty and they don't provide good packaging if you buy 1 or 2 cupcakes. I am truly bummed out because I have not found a good specialty cupcake place in Nashville.

I think they are overrated! The cupcakes were a bit dry and the only reason you could even eat it was because of the icing covering up some of the dryness.

I was truly dissappointed as well as everyone else in the office. We would try them again just to see if they were better but if i had another dry cupcake I wouldn't go back or suggest this place to anyone else.

I'm not sure if she's changed things around there are not, but Gigi's cupcakes are AWESOME. Every flavor has I've tried has been over the top! The cake is always so moist that it sticks to the cupcake paper and the frosting is fluffy, generous and buttery good. I've had only good experiences there and with the friendly staff and product. Gigi, keep on, keeping on. You GO girl! aousffylsohme beal>thothatni the

NOT Gaga for Gigi's! I love to see small Nashville businesses success but I give Gigi's Cupcakes six months. I agree with all the other posts in regard to decor. But my biggest beef is that such a HIGH price point, they should be bending over backwards with customer service. The counter staff was rude that I called them on it. Based on what people have said on this post that Gigi doesn't like to say thanks....her staff certainly has learned from her. It was my first time in and my last time. For great cupcakes, go to Darlene's Downtown and Whole Foods has the BEST.

I went to this cupcake shop twice over a two week period, and BOTH times the customer service was horrendous! The young woman who took my order was the rudest of them all, and then the other one-in the middle of me choosing which to fill the dozen with- just said "pay me' I wasn't even done deciding. Not to mention the cupcakes were horribly dry, and the frosting tasteless and bland. I don't see how this place is in business, I might overlook the customer service if the cupcakes were great--or vice versa... but when you have those two things being so bad.... why even bother.

You people are all WRONG! After reading all the bad posts on this site i decided not to try GiGi's.

Thank goodness my husband convinced me that i should try it for myself, i am so glad i did!
The staff is wonderful. Not only were the happy, nice and patient with me they were kind with my 2 young daughters. AND they told me and the other 4 customers THANK YOU. Maybe you should be nice with them. Being kind is a two way street.
The cupcakes are delicious. I bought a dozen (for my girlfriends birthday)
Give them a try. Our family will be a regular customer.

Maybe because of all these negative blogs the problem's were fixed! I sure hope that's the case at least.

Customer service at Gigi's is really hit or miss. And I've not been blown away by most of the cupcake options or taste. I love Billy's in New York and have had amazing red velvet cake at Big Booty. Not a big fan of Gigi's. When I want a cupcake in Nashville, I make my way to Dulce Desserts in Edgehill! The cakes are smaller but so much more delicious. Real gourmet delight! And Juanita is friendly and hilarious! She definitely has a cool spin on Nashville hospitality.

I think every comment on this topic, positive and negative is spot on. My office is a few blocks from Gigi's. Luckily I've restrained myself from going more than a few times. I'd say they've been 50/50 dry cupcakes and poor service vs tasty cupcakes and great service. The two seem to go hand in hand, as well. So if they're rude from the onset, I'd leave before purchasing.

Agree with the previous reviewer about Dolce Desserts, although I'd choose lighter bodied frosting if I had my druthers. Also, the vanilla petit fours from Sweet and Sassy are unreal. Good thing I'm not blocks from that place.

Got a 4-pack of cupcakes from Gigi's as a gift. They were huge, dry as heck, and the frosting was flavorless and overwhelming. I woudln't pay a buck for a cupcake like that, much less the prices they likely charge.

Gigi's is my favorite cupcakes place! I love the taste, the texture and everything single tiny little thing about them! Thank you for having Gigi's here in Nashville- they are my #1 treat!

I can't vouch for the Gigi's in Nashville, I have never been there, and I probably will not go there. However, for those of you in the Beaufort, North Caroloina area, please don't confuse Gigi's Cupcakes with GiGi's Confections. The GiGi in NC KNOWS her stuff! Just ask any of the restaurants that she bakes for!

Have to agree - every comment, positive and negative has been my experience. The first time I went, the two women there were the friendliest ever and the cupcakes were fabulous. But on every visit since, the customer service has been RUDE. The quality is not consistent, either. Hopefully they'll work out the kinks because I think it's a great idea. A better sitting area would be a nice addition.

I've been to Gigi's about 6 or 7 times now. In my experience, the cupcakes themselves have never been "dry". At the worst, mine have tasted like they were made earlier in the morning, which they probably were if I chose an unpopular flavor that day. That's life.
I'm not sure how the taste buds are working of anyone who said the frosting is "bland". Good Lord, sometimes it's so rich and creamy that I can't finish the cupcake without help from a friend.
As for the service, she could do herself a favor by losing the surly-looking teenager that has been there a few times working the register at the Broadway location. But maybe that's what you get for minimum wage, or not much more than that, these days.
As far as the comment on the decor, who cares if the pink in the tile matches the pink on the sign? Good Lord, gripe about the actual product.
Business must be good for Gigi, as she has two more Nashville locations! You go girl!!
