Puddin' Out Cupcakes, Sherman Oaks, California

There are new cupcake places popping up ALL the time, and especially in Los Angeles. The latest we've heard about is Puddin' Out, whose website needs a severe overhaul, or at least their address! Thankfully, Citysearch has the scoop:

Puddin' Out Cupcakes is the new hot bakery and cafe in Sherman Oaks serving everything you might desire. The cupcake flavors are creative, beautiful and best of all: delicious. Apple pie square, pina colada collision, plush red velvet, cappucino bambino and lemon meringue high are just a few of the 25 plus cupcake flavors offered. Puddin' Out Cupcakes also has a pudding bar where you can create your own dessert.

I'll be visiting there at the end of May but with the number of LA bakeries to visit, I will have to eat cupcakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner to possibly sample them all! (So far, I've only tried Sprinkles.) It's great news though for the LA Cupcake Meetup, which is visiting Mrs. Beasley's at 253A 26th Street in Santa Monica this Staurday March 29th at 1 pm.

The rest from Flickr user maitaimai99, who has an amazing, must-see Flickr cupcake set. She wasn't that excited about Puddin' Out's offerings, calling the red velvet dry and the apple pie cupcake a "wannabe:" dry cake with no apple but + super sweet frosting = yucky!!

FYI, I just called them and the store hours on CitySearch are wrong. They're open 8:30am-10:30pm Mon-Sat and 10am-10:30pm on Sunday.

I had cupcakes there two months ago - and the orange one was amazing. So good I went back after my meeting and bought 6 more, and some others. I live in Long Beach but think about that place all the time - my cupcakes from Puddin' Out were great!

This poor place needs to start over from scratch. The cupcakes themselves were OK, but the store is an absolute mess. The decor, "theme", TVs, X-box, movies, etc. just aren't charming. The staff doesn't seem too knowledgeable and the selection on the weekend I went was a joke. 6 flavors!

As this blog suggests, their website needs an overhaul and their menu needs to be retyped without spelling errors.

Sad.

the problem with Puddin Out is they keep changing their vision and their bakers. Sometimes I go and its AMAZING and ON PAR with Flore, other times no where near it. I havent been in a long while so I think I'll try it again once more and hope they've finalized their recipes.
