The perfect cupcake should: a. be light and fluffy; b. have small bubbles; c. not go gluggy.

That’s the criteria according to Catherine Bellchambers and she reckons her friend and business partner Suzie ‘The Cupcake Queen’ Vella has the mix just right.

The pair has just opened The Cupcake Teahouse in Buderim, after they initially met two years ago when their daughters became friends at Kuluin pre-school.

“I watched this woman make these amazing cakes, I couldn’t believe what I saw,” Catherine said.

“One afternoon Sue popped over for a cup of tea and I said, ‘you have such an amazing product, why don’t you open a tea lounge?’”

The women went hunting for a store and found exactly what they were looking for on Burnett Street.

“We wanted to base it in Buderim, which is more personal than Mooloolaba’s touristy area,” Suzie said.

The pair also enjoyed the fact that a gym would be their new neighbour.

“We had the biggest laugh,” Catherine said with a grin.

“We thought let’s open a cupcake shop right next to Circuit Slim!”

With a bit of Googling, I was able to find the address of the Circuit Slim "next door". Hopefully there's not more than one Circuit Slim on Burnett Street in Buderim: 8/86 Burnett Street

I am pretty sure that the shopping complex they are in is called the mall, it is opposite the Buderim Tavern, that should be easy to find now :)
