Cupcakes Club books

While this is not directly related to cupcakes themselves, I think it's interesting...

There's a whole series of books for girls called the Cupcakes Club series (reminds me of The Babysitters Club back in teh day) by Donna Bensen. Her bio on Amazon says:

Donna Benson began her writing career with movie reviews and soon progressed to writing two of her own screenplays. Benson writes the series much like your favorite bakery creates delicious desserts; made the old fashioned way, with care and using the finest of ingredients. When asked where the inspiration for The Cupcakes Club came from Benson replied that cupcakes are a comfort food that remind us of birthday parties, happy memories, and have become a symbol of joy. She hopes to capture those fun, friendly, and delicious ingredients in her books. There's nothing like Cupcakes to lift your spirits! Do you want to be part of something delicious? She also has a website at www.thecupcakesclub.com

From the article in The Daily Courier:

Benson wrote the first Cupcakes Club book, "Shakin' up Soccer, Summer Style," in the summer of 2007. She said she self-published the books with a firm in Canada.

Benson chose the "cupcakes" concept because she wanted something small and sweet.

"A cupcake can be simple or sophisticated, classic or cute, with sprinkles or without. But what makes a Cupcake girl extra special is the wholesome goodness found inside each one," Benson said.

Benson said her goal is to promote reading. The Cupcakes Club books are age-appropriate with topics that promote discussions between girls and parents
