This Sunday there are two big California cupcake events. One is CupcakeCamp in San Francisco, the other is the Los Angeles Cupcake Meetup, which I'll be attending, and we'll have an interview up with organizer Tara Settembre very soon. All you members of the San Francisco Cupcake Meetup, check this out.

You're organizing CupcakeCamp (click here for more information, click here to RSVP) on June 1st in San Francisco. Please tell us about what to expect, why you're organizing it, and how people can participate, and what your inspiration was for it?
CupcakeCamp was inspired by Barcamp, only with cupcakes. We're planning on having eight 30 minute sessions on tasting different types of cupcakes. Cindy Li, Lynn, and myself decided to organize the event due to the mass San Francisco demand for cupcake events (we're terribly jealous of all your New York cupcake events!). People can participate by buying or baking cupcakes to bring, or just simply by showing up to eat them!

Do you think cupcakes are best enjoyed in a group setting, or are they just as good on your own?
I've found cupcakes are best when they're shared, so definitely group settings. Seriously, why not share the cupcake goodness with as many people as you can?
How does your love of cupcakes play into your working life?
When I left VML (my former employer), my coworkers baked me a dozen cupcakes as a going away present (it was very sweet of them!). Cupcakes in the workplace are always welcome and usually provide a pleasurable break.
What are your favorite cupcakes in San Francisco?
So far, I've really enjoyed Kara's mini-cupcakes - they're the perfect size and come in great flavors.
What do you think is the key to a good cupcake?
Chocolate.
And now for some personal questions…
How often do you eat cupcakes?
Lately, 1-2 times a week.
What's the best thing about eating cupcakes?
The anticipation!
What's your favorite type of cupcake?
Really, anything with chocolate makes me happy.
How do cupcakes compare/contrast to other baked goods for you?
They can't really compare to the awesomeness that is cupcakes.
Is there any innovation you'd like to see made to the cupcake that would improve it for you?
I'd really like to see a bacon cupcake. Some have claimed to be attempting this innovation for CupcakeCamp.
Do you bake your own cupcakes? Or (even better) have someone who bakes them for you?
I don't bake them as often as I would like. I am lucky enough to have some of the most awesome friends ever who bring me cupcake deliveries to my door. It brings the biggest smile to my face every time.
What's your first cupcake-related memory?
I admittedly don't recall any cupcake memories from my childhood. The first memory I have that set me down my path of cupcake obsession was seeing [Ed. - possibly NSFW, one photo below] Violet Blue's "favorite panties" Flickr set. Cute panties + cupcakes = how can you resist?

What's the most fun you've ever had with a cupcake?
This photo says it all:
Do you have anything else to add?
I'm really looking forward to see how the first CupcakeCamp goes! Additionally, I've been throwing around the idea of producing a CupcakeLibrary.tv video in the style of Gary Vaynerchuk's WineLibrary.tv, so that should be fun if I move forward with it.
