from "Something Borrowed" by Erika Hoefer in North Shore Magazine, on "the perfect North Shore wedding" - I love this description of wedding cupcakes as "edible mementos." Indeed they are, and perhaps at no other time is the visual aspect of cupcakes so important, especially if they are replacing a traditional wedding cake.
Increasingly, Nathan says, brides and grooms are turning to edible mementos. She remembers one reception where the bride and her mother spent about six months researching cupcake flavors and designs for a cupcake tree. They replicated hydrangeas, roses and dahlias on top in perfect realistic detail. Following the ceremony, each cupcake was wrapped with a bow in a beautiful box and sent home with a guest.
