Cupcakes have proven to possess solid demand, even in the current economic downturn, with the opening of a third Cake Fetish location in Albuquerque.

The sweets store, in Montaño Plaza at Coors and Montaño boulevards, is scheduled to open Aug. 11, with a grand opening party and ribbon cutting planned for Aug. 20.

Caryn and Ron Koerner bought the first Cake Fetish from founder Carissa Mettling in 2007. Mettling opened the store in March 2006. The two current shops are at 2665 Louisiana Blvd. NE and Downtown at 200 3rd St. NW.

"The one question we get asked frequently is, 'When are you opening on the Westside?'" said Caryn Koerner. "The time is right for us to expand now. We will now be convenient no matter where you live in Albuquerque or Rio Rancho."

The menu will be the same at all locations, and cupcakes will be baked fresh daily at the new store.

The hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Orders can be phoned in at 899-2425. For a menu of sweet treats, visit www.cakefetish.com.
