Fort Collins, Colorado's Butter Cream Cupcakery (see more photos on their site) just got written up in The Coloradoan. I'm really impressed they they will call customers to tell them when their favorite cupcake flavor is for sale; now that's dedication to customer service! Not as impressed that The Coloradoan has a broken link to their site, but great piece nonetheless.
Although Butter Cream offers about 50 flavors of cupcakes, the bakery regularly carries only six varieties - red velvet, chocolate, vanilla bean, chocolate on vanilla, a changing surprise flavor and a daily special. The other flavors of cupcakes are rotated in throughout the year or can be special ordered. (Butter Cream even offers to give you a call when your favorite cupcake is in the rotation.)
According to the friendly cashier, the most popular flavor has been peanut butter cup. Some of the other unique flavors: vegan vanilla berry, PB&J and eggnog.
We split four different flavors, trying red velvet, vanilla bean, vanilla on chocolate and mint chocolate chip (that day's surprise flavor.)
Red velvet happens to be my favorite type of cake, and I was thrilled with this option because many bakeries do not carry it. The red velvet was moist and had just the perfect hint of cocoa. As for the white chocolate cream cheese frosting, it was generously applied and thick and smooth; however, it was a little overwhelming. I usually prefer my frosting a little less sweet.

to their defense, they house their cupcakes in an open case, which may have attributed.. and I was there around 4pm.
They only had one flavor left - Red Velvet! But its a good thing - they must be doing well to sell out so fast!
Disappointing overall.
