My favorite cupcake as a kid was pretty much anything with candy on it! I loved the worms and mud kind because of all the gummy worms they had!

I loved rainbow chip cupcakes when I was a kid. I used to push all the frosting off to the side, eat the cake first, then eat the frosting with my finger because I wanted to savor it.

my favorite cupcake as a kid was the classic vanilla vanilla... of course, it was much more about the frosting than the cake. some things never change :)

Visiting family in North Carolina as a kid always meant yellow buttermilk cupcakes with caramel glaze. I try to make them now, but they're not the same.

Love your site.

My favorite cupcakes were the ones my mom used to make at Easter time. They looked like little Easter baskets with green coconut frosting for grass and jelly beans for the eggs. Now I carry on the tradition with my kids. I also tried out some new spooky spider cupcakes this Halloween. Check them out at mingofamily.blogspot.com

My favorite cupcakes when I was growing up were the confetti cupcakes. They were pretty easy to bake up and we could just pile on white frosting and add sprinkles ourselves. aupekkle at gmail dot com

Dare I say Hostess cream-filled chocolate cupcakes? I could always count on the corner store, just in case Mom hadn't baked anything that day. I loved to peel off and eat the frosting, and work my way to the "surprise" filling.

I'd have to say any cupcake that was in front of me--haha. Probably chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting though. YUMMMMM

I don't remember a lot of homemade cupcakes as a kid so I'd say my favorite were hostess cupcakes, the ones with the little white swirl!

FUNFETTI ALL THE WAY...AND WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THAT RAINBOW CHIP ICING...I'D LOVE TO TAKE A GIANT SPOON TO A TUB OF THAT!

I recall that in the late 80's that "funfetti" cake mix came out... and it at the time seemed just about perfect. Times have changed and thankfully my taste has too... but there was certainly a time when that white cake dotted with multicolored sprinkles inside was the best!

For some reason, I loved these cupcakes that had plastic clown heads stuck into them. I'd get a vanilla one with about 4 inches of blue frosting.

Doll cupcakes, where the cake was the doll's dress. I never got to eat one 8^(

But I did enjoy sprinkles on cupcakes: colored sugar (the bigger crystals are better), colored coconut, and the silver balls as accents.

I really did not have a lot of homemade or bakery bought cupcakes as a kid and would love to have done more baking with my mom. Well, today I do bake with my kiddoes and LOVE Confetti Cakes book. My favorite cupcake as a kid would have to have been store bought (not bakery) chocolate-cream filled cupcakes with white icing....MMMM good!! Glad as an adult I have grown to love baking and I am instilling it into my kiddoes too!! We LOVE cupcakes!!!

As a child growing up in another country, I did not know much of cupcakes. Yes, we had cakes for birthday but not cupcakes.
Now that I have my own children, we bake cupcakes and our favorites are chocolate and banana. I have also taught my 10 yr old daughter how to make MMF (marshmallow fondant) from scratch and decorate cupcakes with it. This is a bonding time for us and what a joy it is to do it with her. I have been waiting for this book so that we can get new ideas to play with. Elisa's creations are work of art. She is marvelous.
