Next week we'll have an exclusive interview here with Mia Bauer, co-owner of Crumbs, but here's an excerpt from an article in Connecticut newspaper The Advocate, about Crumbs's new Stamford, Connecticut bakery:

The first Connecticut Crumbs is scheduled to open later this month at 1067 High Ridge Road in the High Ridge Center shopping plaza in Stamford. The site had contained part of Siladi's Pharmacy, which moved to another storefront in the shopping plaza.

"We wanted to be in an area of Stamford that appeals not only to mothers and children, but also to businesses," Jason Bauer said.

Norman Lotstein, retail specialist with Pyramid Real Estate Group in Stamford, endorsed the location.

"The Crumbs bake shop . . . adds another top-notch product choice for customers shopping at the High Ridge Center," Lotstein said.

Crumbs sells three sizes of cupcakes that range from bite size to 6 ounces. Varieties include Boston cream, Twinkie, key lime and s'mores. They also sell coffee, frosted sponge cake, croissants, pastries, scones, strudel, pies and custom-made cakes.

Jason Bauer, 38, and his wife Mia, 39, opened the first Crumbs on Amsterdam Avenue on Manhattan's Upper West Side in 2003.

He said they expect to have 22 shops in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Los Angeles by the end of this year.

Next year, the couple plans to open 40 more stores in the Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and San Diego markets.

Are these affiliated with Crumbs in Santa barbara california? If so, what a shame. Santa Barbara's "Crumbs" is terrible.
