Animal-theme cupcakes for a first birthday party

Animal cupcakes! Can't get enough of 'em. Froggies, ladybugs, fishes and piglets. One of each, please? Thanks to avlxyz on Flickr for the cupcake pictures, all for Evan's first birthday party. Lucky baby.

Also, avlxyz posted a picture of something called Fairy Bread, that I'd never heard of or seen before. Anyone know anything about it?

Maybe Fairy bread is an Australian thing??? But it is a must at kids parties here LOL
All it is is white bread and butter/margarine with sprinkles (or we call them hundred and thousands) on top cut into small triangles.
Not sure why it is fairy bread maybe it looks like something they would eat.....It has been around forever....I am 34 and we used to have it at parties when I was a kid :)

Wems, thanks! I know about Australian Fairy Floss (what we call "cotton candy," but not the Fairy Bread. Thanks for cluing me (and all the readers) in. Also, how cute is "hundreds and thousands"? We used to call sprinkles "jimmies." Must be a southern thing!

I think fairy bread is a kiwi thing, but its definately from the Southern Hemisphere. Its origin is probably like that of the pavlova where everyone says they had it first! However it is a staple at childrens partys.

Fairy Bread!!!! It's something from childhood that appeared on plastic plates on tables at children's birthday parties.

I'd explain what they are by Wems has already done that *grin*

It's totally yummy and decadent. *grin* Soft bread with crunchy sugar dots on it!
